Incredibly informative for newbie Substackers who came here burnt out by Instagram! Noting that notes and all the accoutrement beyond the long form essays are getting noisier already. Following your journey & genuinely appreciate your transparency!

I don’t have a brand, but I love to write and did want to be on a writer-friendly—-well, my wish was writer/reader exclusive, platform. I have always struggled, though, to figure out how to be authentic while learning to play a social media game, and quickly lost interest in Substack. Not saying it can’t be done or that cool people with lots of integrity haven’t figured it out. They have! It’s still a way better platform than most in that regard. As with FB and Insta, I could train my dragon, so-to-speak, and stay in a small, select community that met me where I am and introduced me to new people I want to know. But in the last year or so there has been so much clamor, I have stopped visiting and interacting on Substack and have been wishing for something entirely different and more writer-friendly. Thank you thank you thank you for letting us know about Beehiiv! You consistently and positively influence my life which is why I was and am so happy to be a payed subscriber of yours, Elise.
