I wrote a newsletter last week called “Learning Emotional Release,” which is very helpful, particularly for moments like this. Releasing emotions doesn’t mean you don’t care, or that you’re not connecting to events, or that your stories don’t matter, but it does create spaciousness. In our language, we over-identify with our emotion (“I AM angry”) rather than understanding that they are temporary states (“I am FEELING angry.” Here are the basic releasing questions from The Sedona Method, that you repeat again and again:
1. What is your NOW feeling?
2. Could you welcome/allow that feeling?
3. Could you let it go?
4. Would you let it go?
5. When?
Repeat.
